Useful software

Tools we use:

Vizard

Vizard enables users to easily create interactive real-time 3D worlds.  It replaces VRUT, a platform used at RECVEB for much of the VR-based research.  It uses Python as the basis for scripting interaction and experiment control logic.

VRUT

VRUT is a 3D graphics environment specially designed for building and rendering virtual environments. It has been replaced by the Vizard development effort linked above.

Python

Python is an interpreted, interactive, object-oriented programming language. It is often compared to Tcl, Perl, Scheme or Java.  It is open-source and available for nearly any platform.

3D Studio MAX

An excellent tool for creating 3D content.

Maya

Another excellent tool for creating 3D content.

3DMeNow

Poser

Other software for building virtual environments:

Virtools

Quest3D

Eon Reality

Sense8
